If so, a range of options for supporting you through your degree or doctoral studies is available to you. The eleven organizations for the promotion of young talent (Begabtenförderungswerke) funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) provide scholarships for young people like you. Students and doctoral students are individually supported as independent and (self-)critically thinking personalities.
Support for especially gifted students and doctoral students through the eleven organizations for the promotion of young talent (Begabtenförderungswerke), which are funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, reflect the plurality of our society.
The organizations share a commitment to society and to the promotion of effective responsible elites.
To emphasize this issue, the eleven organizations have jointly formed the "Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Begabtenförderungswerke in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland" (Association for the promotion of young talent in the Federal Republic of Germany).
It is not just the command of specialist areas alone that will be crucial in planning our society's future; for this, an increase in expertise would be sufficient. Elites - and this plural is indispensable in a cosmopolitan society - must be more than mere 'functional elites' in a democratic community; they must share, and base their actions on, certain values. Responsible elites also have to be able to deal with phenomena such as a growing uncertainty and lack of transparency, and manage increasing levels of complexity, networking and dynamism.
The individual promotion of highly-motivated, qualified and socially-involved young students and doctoral students by the Begabtenförderungswerke is designed to reach independent and (self)critical individuals who see themselves as social actors with the skills and ability required to make decisions and are prepared to take on responsibility.
Our promotion programme supports gifted students and young researchers who are pursuing progress in understanding and an increase in knowledge; our aim is to motivate them to be aware of broader perspectives and to train a critical spirit.
